Purpose XRP ETF

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a spot XRP ETF?

A spot XRP ETF is an exchange-traded fund that gives investors direct exposure to XRP, a digital asset that powers the XRP Ledger, a blockchain designed for fast, low-cost global payments. Unlike futures-based crypto funds, a spot ETF holds the actual asset—in this case, XRP—so its price tracks the real-time market value of XRP, not a derivative of it.

Why XRP? Isn’t Bitcoin the main cryptocurrency?

Bitcoin might have started the conversation, but the XRP Ledger has always focused on real-world utility—specifically solving pain points in cross-border payments. With average settlement times of just 3–5 seconds and transaction fees under a cent, XRP Ledger is one of the most efficient blockchains out there. If Bitcoin is digital gold, the XRP Ledger is more like digital plumbing—fast, reliable, and built for financial scale.

Why would I want to invest in XRP through an ETF instead of buying XRP directly?

For advisors and investors who want regulated, convenient access to digital assets without the complications of digital wallets, keys, or crypto exchanges, a spot ETF is a more traditional, familiar structure. You get exposure to the price of XRP without having to figure out how to store or manage crypto yourself.

Why now?

XRP has been one of the most-requested digital assets among Canadian investors for years. Now that there’s a clear regulatory path in Canada, and with growing momentum in the U.S. and global financial institutions exploring XRP Ledger-based settlement, we believe the timing is right to offer a regulated, TSX-listed investment vehicle.

Who might this ETF make sense for?
  • Financial advisors and wealth professionals who want to meet client demand for crypto—without diving into crypto themselves.
  • Crypto-savvy investors who already understand XRP’s role in the digital asset ecosystem but want a simpler, tax-efficient way to hold it.
  • Curious new investors who want a foot in the door to the crypto world without going full degen.
Where is the ETF listed?

It’s listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), so you can buy it through any Canadian brokerage account, just like any other stock or ETF.

What are the risks?

Like all crypto assets, XRP is volatile and influenced by regulatory developments, investor sentiment, and global adoption trends. This ETF is best suited for those with a long-term view and appropriate risk tolerance. If you’re unsure, talk to a financial advisor—or better yet, have them talk to us. For a full description of the risks, read the prospectus.

What does Purpose bring to the table?

We launched the world’s first spot Bitcoin ETF and are Canada’s leaders in crypto ETF management by AUM.* Our focus has always been on making crypto safe, accessible, and understandable for investors and advisors. We’re not tourists in this space—we’re builders.

What’s actually inside the ETF?

The ETF holds XRP directly in institutional-grade cold storage with qualified custodians, Gemini and Coinbase. Every unit you own represents actual XRP held on your behalf. There’s no derivatives, no leverage, no funny business.

What does Ripple have to do with XRP? Are they the same thing?

While XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger, Ripple is the company that helped develop the network and actively works to expand its use in global finance. Based in the U.S., Ripple builds enterprise solutions that use XRP and the XRPL to help financial institutions move money across borders faster and more cost-effectively. Think of Ripple as the company building apps and partnerships on top of the XRPL infrastructure—not the owner of XRPL itself.
